Nelson Mandela: Activist, President, Inspiration The powerful activist for human rights, Nelson Mandela, once stated, â€Å"A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination.† The young boy from a South African clan has had one dream throughout his entire life: change. If Mandela was still alive today, he would see how his wise words continue to inspire the country of South Africa. Mandela took the burden of change upon him from a young age, and was determined to be the man that causes the change his nation so desperately needs. Nelson Mandela has greatly benefitted modern society by bringing peace to a racially divided country, changing the viewpoints of his people by becoming the first black president of his nation, and by being an activist for human rights around the world. Nelson Mandela was not raised in the typical life of a normal child; he was born into an African Clan where his father is the leader. However, that did not stop him from his dream to better society (â€Å"Mandela†). Nelson Mandela is the son Henry Mandela who is a Chief among of the Madiba Clan. However, he rejected the offer to become the chief of the clan to become a lawyer. He attended South African Native College where he studied law at the university the Witwatersrand; where he took an exam to become a lawyer. Mandela introduced South Africa’s first black law practice with Oliver Tamboo in 1952.
